Winsome Donald spent her 45th birthday mourning the tragic loss of her of second son, 17-year-old Javarn 'Shine Head' Christie, who was murdered in Craig Town, St Andrew on Saturday.

Donald told THE STAR that her last conversation with her son involved him wishing her a happy birthday.

"Me see him yesterday morning and me send him go buy a bath soap and him come back with the wrong soap, so I tell him I want a carbolic, and him say, 'Mommy, man, alright! Mek me carry it back', and when him come back him look at me and say, 'Mommy, happy birthday'. That is the last ting my son said to me," Donald told THE STAR yesterday.

Killed by cowards

Young Christie and 15-year-old Alan Thompson were killed by cowards who sprayed them with bullets in their community while they were at a friend's birthday party around 10:30 a.m. Five other children, including a six-year-old, were also shot and injured.

Christie's mother said Saturday was the worst birthday she has had.

"I'm gonna always remember this because it happen on my birthday, trust me, it rough. I don't know how me a guh make it through this," she said.

"Him nuh come in like a son, him is more like a brother. You know how a brother and sister live loving, that was my child, and him always a say him wah make it in life so him can help out him mother," she said, with teary eyes.

Jossett Donald, aunt of the deceased, described her nephew as an affectionate person.

"My nephew was a nice, loving person, anything him beg me, me give him it. Me love me nephew and me niece dem because me nuh have no children, so me love them," she told THE STAR.

She admitted that this is a hard pill to swallow after losing her brother in a similar way.

"Me lose me brother by gunshot and now me nephew in a him young days. Last night me nuh sleep, enuh, a from 5'o clock me wake up and sit dung in a the yard a bawl, because me cyah stop remember 'bout me nephew and me cyah get over it," she said.

Likewise, Shine Head's grandmother described him as precious.

"Is a youth like this, anything at all me tell him to do him nah refuse. Him just jump at it; such a good child me a tell you," she said "Me nuh know when me a guh overcome it, but me beg God fi help me," she said.
