71-y-o among thieves caught on camera with missing purse
A 71-year-old vendor is among two people facing criminal charges after a woman's missing purse allegedly changed hands in a Stony Hill parking lot, with CCTV footage said to have captured the entire sequence.
Charged are 46-year-old Jennifer Campbell, a vendor of Grants Pen Avenue, Kingston 8, and 71-year-old Raphael Dallas, a vendor of Golden Hill in the Pinto district, St Andrew.
Campbell has been charged with larceny by finding, while Dallas is charged with aiding and abetting.
According to the Stony Hill Police, sometime between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10, a woman parked her motor vehicle in a parking lot before going to a nearby supermarket.
When she returned, she realised her purse was missing.
After searching unsuccessfully for it, she reported the matter to the police.
Investigators later reviewed CCTV footage, which allegedly showed Campbell finding the purse and concealing it inside a bag she was carrying.
Police further allege that the footage captured Campbell approaching Dallas, removing items from the purse before handing it to him, after which the pair walked away together.
Following investigations, both vendors were arrested and formally charged after participating in a question-and-answer session.
Their court date is being finalised.
